Packing
Use our packing tips the next time you hire a New York City mover want to pack some items yourself, or if you're planning to store some things in a self storage unit.
These tips have been collected through actual experience.
- Plan ahead. If you can dispose of items before you pack you'll save your New York City mover time and save yourself expense. Consider holding a garage sale, selling items at a flea market or online, or donating them to a charitable organization.
- Consider packing important documents, like bank statements, medical records, car titles, etc. in one place. Pack them yourself, don't put them in storage and consider moving them with you.
- If you need to take something apart in order to pack it or put it in a storage unit, label each piece so you can quickly re-assemble it after you've unpacked.
- Use blankets, towels, or old linens to protect furniture. Upholstered furniture is best covered with cotton sheets because they promote better ventilation, which will help prevent mold and mildew.
- Pack items within other items. For example, pack sponges inside pots or buckets. These items are going in the same place so you'll save time when it comes time to unpack and put things away.
